Getting there

Vienna International is thirty minutes from the centre on the S7 or sixteen on the CAT. The city is also an easy train from Budapest, Prague and Munich — two and a half to four hours.

Rathausplatz is on the U2, and the other markets — Spittelberg, Freyung, Maria-Theresien-Platz, Karlsplatz, Schönbrunn — are all on the U-Bahn. Buying a weekly pass is cheaper than three days of single tickets.

November evenings are around freezing and December colder; the markets are entirely outdoors and the Punsch is a practical measure.
