Paris does not sell out for the tennis — it is a city of 80,000 hotel rooms. What changes is the price of the right arrondissement and the price of the ticket: qualifying is free to watch, the first week is affordable, the second is a different event entirely.

Getting there

Line 10 to Porte d’Auteuil and line 9 to Michel-Ange–Molitor both end a few minutes’ walk from the gates, which is why anywhere on those lines beats a taxi.

From Charles de Gaulle, the RER B into the centre and then the metro takes about an hour. Orly is closer to the 16th and the tram-metro combination is quicker.

The grounds open at 11am and the last matches run into the evening under the Chatrier roof. Bring a hat: late May in Paris is unpredictable, and the clay courts are unshaded.

Questions

When is Roland-Garros 2027?
17 May to 6 June 2027. Qualifying runs the first week, the main draw starts on Sunday 23 May, and the finals are on 5 and 6 June.
Is qualifying week really open to the public?
Yes, and it is the cheapest way into the grounds all fortnight — professional matches on the outside courts with room to stand.
Which week should I come for?
The first, unless you specifically want a final. A grounds pass in week one buys more tennis than a show-court seat in week two.
Where should I stay?
Anywhere on metro line 10 or 9. Boulogne is the practical choice; the 16th is the expensive one; La Défense is the bargain.
Do I need to enter a ballot?
For the show courts and the second week, yes — it opens months ahead. Grounds passes and qualifying are far easier.
