Mugello has no town attached to it: the circuit sits in a valley of farmhouses an hour north of Florence. That makes this a choice between renting a house with a group six months out, or treating Florence as the base and driving in each morning.

Getting there

Florence Peretola is the closest airport, but Bologna has more flights and the drive is barely longer. Either way, hire a car: there is no public transport to the circuit worth the name.

From Florence the route is the SR65 over the Futa pass or the A1 and SP551 — both beautiful, both single-file on Sunday morning. Leave two hours for a 45-minute drive on race day.

By train you can reach Borgo San Lorenzo from Florence, which puts you 25 minutes from the gates by taxi — the only realistic car-free plan.

Questions

When is the 2027 Italian Grand Prix?
28–30 May 2027 at Mugello. The race is on Sunday 30 May, the sprint on Saturday 29 May.
Should I stay in Florence or the valley?
The valley if you are a group and book early; Florence if you are two people booking late. The drive is the same either way, but Florence still has rooms in February.
Do I need a car?
Effectively yes. The alternative is the train to Borgo San Lorenzo and a taxi, which works but costs more than a hire car across three days.
Is camping an option?
It is the Italian answer and the cheapest one: the hills around the circuit fill with tents from Thursday. Bring everything with you, including water.
How bad is the traffic?
The valley roads are two lanes. Arriving before 08:00 and leaving after the podium, or well before the end, is the difference between a drive and a standstill.
