Our verdict
- Go
- All five — the gates open Wednesday and that is half the festival
- Stay
- On site
- Book by
- The ticket sale is the booking; everything else follows within a week
Glastonbury is a camping festival and a ticket lottery, in that order. A bed off site is a fallback, not an upgrade: the last buses leave before the headliners finish and taxis do not exist in Somerset at 1am. If you are not camping, plan the exit before you book the room.

Which days to go
| Day | What happens | Crowd | Hotel price | Our call |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WednesdayWed 23 Jun | Gates open; no main stages, but the site and the late-night fields are running | ×1.6 | Arrive today — Thursday arrivals spend four hours in a queue for a worse pitch | |
| ThursdayThu 24 Jun | Still no Pyramid Stage, but everything else is open and the site is walkable | ×1.8 | The best day to explore the far corners before the crowds settle | |
| Friday to Sunday25–27 Jun 2027 | The full line-up across every stage, Pyramid headliners each night | ×2.4 | Sunday night is the quietest exit; Monday morning is six hours of traffic |
Hotel price is what the same hotel costs on these dates against its rate four weeks before the event. Crowd and price are our estimates from how the event has run, not live rates.

Getting there
Castle Cary station is six miles from the site and runs shuttle buses throughout the festival; trains from London Paddington take about two hours. Book the train with the ticket — the Wednesday morning services sell out.
Driving means a car park on the farm and a long walk with your tent. The roads into Pilton are single-track lanes and the Monday exit is measured in hours, not minutes.
National Express coach packages bundle travel with a festival ticket and bypass the resale entirely; for many people they are the easiest way in.

Questions
- When is Glastonbury 2027?
- 23–27 June 2027 at Worthy Farm, returning after the 2026 fallow year.
- Do I have to camp?
- Not strictly, but the alternative is a long way out with no late transport. Camping is the festival; a hotel is a compromise with a 1am problem.
- How do tickets work?
- You register in advance, then buy in a sale the previous autumn. It sells out in under an hour, and there is a resale in the spring.
- When should I arrive?
- Wednesday, when the gates open. Thursday arrivals queue for hours and camp at the edges.
- What if it rains?
- It is a dairy farm in June. Wellingtons are not a joke and the hills turn to clay in a day.
